Huntsville, Ala. – The Smith Family Clinic for Genomic Medicine – a genomics medical office on the campus of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology – announced today that Carol Aiken, CMM, clinical operations administrator and privacy and compliance officer; was appointed to the Alabama chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Practice Management Association (AAP-PMA) executive committee.
Established in 2005, the Alabama chapter of the AAP-PMA aims to improve the knowledge and skills of pediatric practices managers. Aiken will serve as first vice chair of the conference committee, which coordinates educational conferences and provides overall leadership to the subcommittee. In her new role, Aiken will organize subcommittee meetings, recruit conference speakers and develop agendas.

“It’s an honor to have been selected for the executive committee,” said Aiken, “I look forward to working with the AAP-PMA and fellow medical administrators, along with the physicians of the AL-AAP to develop new and innovative ways to improve patient outcomes.”

In her role at the Smith Family Clinic, which specializes in diagnosing individuals with rare or undiagnosed illnesses through the use of genomic sequencing or genetic testing, Aiken provides leadership expertise in all areas of the office and assists physicians and healthcare providers – locally and nationally – in the patient referral process. In addition, she helps guide patients through the on-boarding process and results delivery appointments.

About Smith Family Clinic: The Smith Family Clinic for Genomic Medicine, LLC., a wholly-owned subsidiary of HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, has been established to diagnose patients with undiagnosed and misdiagnosed diseases.
